Online Joining – Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need a PayPal account to complete online joining?
A. No. You can pay using a debit or credit card. Through the process select “Guest” mode and be sure to deselect any option to create a PayPal account.

Q. Will I be charged to pay by debit or credit card?
A. No. You will not be charged to pay by debit/credit card.

Q. Will I be charged to pay by PayPal?
A. No. There is no fee for paying by PayPal.

Q. Why does the online joining process use PayPal?
A. The online joining process uses PayPal’s payments processing system. This is a secure and trusted online payment method used by hundreds of u3a’s across the UK.

Q. Will I receive confirmation of my payment?
A. Yes. You will receive two confirmation emails: a confirmation email from PayPal and a confirmation email from Forth Valley u3a. Your confirmation email from Forth Valley u3a will also contain your digital membership card and instructions on how to complete your online application and create your Members Portal account.

Q. What is the difference between Individual Membership and Associate Membership?
A. Associate Membership is for those joining who are already full members of another u3a. When joining please enter the name of the other u3a and your membership number. Note that being married to a full u3a member does not count as Associate Membership. Individual Membership is for those joining Forth Valley u3a and who are not members of any other u3a.

Q. How do I join groups once I have joined?
A. You will be contacted by our Groups Administrators with advice for joining groups. Also, feel free to check out all our groups on our website Groups Page.

Q. How can I volunteer for Forth Valley u3a?
A. We are always looking for members to contribute their enthusiasm, skills, knowledge and expertise. You may wish to run a new Group, assist with setting up our monthly meetings, help with catering or serve on the Board. A great starting point is to contact our Group Administration who will be delighted to help you.
